About the Administration
The General Department of Communications and Information Technology was established at the beginning of the month of Rabi’ al-Thani in the year 1436 AH by the decision of the Acting University President, numbered (30736), on 7/4/1436 AH. Previously, it had been a section for maintenance and technical support under the Management of Operations and Maintenance. This department laid the foundation for technology within the university, despite having only one employee and a few collaborators for the first two years.With the continued support of the university's president from the beginning of his tenure, the department grew and developed, establishing a standalone data center adhering to the highest global standards. The department further strengthened the university’s IT infrastructure and implemented essential network infrastructure and software programs tailored to meet the university’s needs.On 19/3/1440 AH, the university president issued Decision No. (148), officially designating it as the General Department of Communications and Information Technology. The department is blessed with the direct support of University President Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mohsen Safhi, working towards technical and operational excellence through the development of systems, programs, and a robust technology environment that aligns with the university’s strategic goals and Saudi Vision 2030.Additionally, the department is committed to realizing the objectives outlined in the field of e-Government transactions: “Enabling everyone to use efficient government services in a secure, integrated, and easy manner through multiple electronic channels.” The department is dedicated to building a strong, secure network infrastructure from which electronic services can be launched, making them accessible to everyone in a safe, effective, and reliable manner.We have completed the connection to the Government Secure Network (GSN), which will soon serve as the launchpad for electronic services, ensuring that we meet upcoming challenges with positive energy and a united team spirit.
