Seminar and Exhibition on World Food Day at the Faculty of Science
The seminar was attended by Dr. Mishari bin Marzouk Al-Otaimi, Vice President of the University for Educational Affairs, deans of the colleges and supporting departments, members of the teaching staff, and students. The accompanying exhibition showcased a variety of food products prepared by the university's female students, as well as awareness booths. Dr. Hend Abdul-Moneim Al-Bashir, Associate Professor in the Department of Food Science, addressed the rise in the number of food factories across the Kingdom, which has reached approximately 1,300 factories. It is expected that the food market in the Kingdom will continue to grow in all sectors in the coming years, reaching a value of 214 billion Saudi Riyals by 2030, making Saudi Arabia the largest and fastest-growing food and beverage market in the Middle East region. Mr. Muadh Al-Zahrani also presented the six cases that determine whether food is adulterated: if it contains a permissible food additive not approved for use according to technical standards, if any of its components are removed or altered, or if it is reconstituted, unless this is disclosed on its nutritional label, or if any substance is added that reduces its nutritional value. for 36 seconds
