Establishment of the department

The Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences was established as one of the departments of the College of Home Economics based on the decision of the temporary committee charged with exercising the powers of the Higher Education Council in its meeting No. (11) dated 08/08/1438 AH contained in the letter of His Excellency the Minister of Education No. (932) dated 08/21/1438 AH. A group of university colleges was restructured to create four scientific departments in the College of Home Economics, including the Department of Nutrition and Food Science. On 3/12/1445 AH, the department was annexed to the College of Science under the name of Food and Nutrition Sciences based on the letter of His Excellency the Secretary General of the Council of University Affairs No. (4500305289), which includes the comprehensive academic structure of the university.

1- Providing the graduate with knowledge, interactive scientific skills, and creative and competitive abilities.
2- Developing scientific research in the field of food and nutrition sciences.
3- Strengthening community partnership by providing appropriate educational and guidance services.
4- Qualifying the program to obtain program accreditation locally and internationally.
